New babies bring family visits, and luckily this weekend we got to host Jason’s side of the family– finally! Wren was chipper as ever and loved meeting her little cousins, while Ava was thrilled to play mini-hostess. Everyone (i.e. Jason’s twin brother, sister-in-law, 2 nephews, niece, dad, and dad’s girl friend) rolled in Friday night to discuss plans for what would turn out to be a very busy & fun weekend 🙂

Saturday morning meant our usual trip to the Canyon Farmers’ Market where we picked up some fresh, cracked-wheat rustic loaf bread from Kneading Bread Co., and some delicious coffee from Palace Coffee Co 🙂 – my favorite. We also picked up this amazing little bundle of happy little flowers that I promptly placed into my favorite vintage-green mason jar:
After arriving home from market, everyone headed out to the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, and then out to Lake Meredith. I stayed home with little Wren and made my delicious homemade potato salad and blueberry-lemon cake that I mentioned on my High Five for Friday post. To wrap it up, Jason took everyone out to our favorite place, our home-away-from-home, Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

How lucky am I to be able to feel so accepted into this family? How lucky are the girls? Sometimes, I can’t believe where I’ve ended up, 1600 miles from PA and from my home. But, it’s times like these where Texas feels like home and warmth fills our little yellow house on the plains.
